We exist to heal and strengthen our community, deepening our culture and advancing our independence, so each person can walk their own path.

We see a strong, united, self-governing, self-sustaining Opaskwayak Cree Nation of Mino Pimâtisiwin, living our rich culture and beliefs, protecting our land and our language.

Love is powerful and love overcomes fear and evil. Always remember Kiche Manito first, then ourselves, then our families, then our community.
EAGLE The eagle brings the teaching of love from Kiche Manito. The eagle has a white head symbolizing purity and clean thoughts. Vision that enables it to see far. The teaching it carries is to show love every day of our lives which will take us far into the future.
MATTHEW 22:37 Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
Respect - Recognize the sacredness in everything and everyone around us.
Kiche Manito gives us all life, language and land. It is our sacred duty to treat these gifts with respect.
DEER The Deer live in harmony and grow together. They represent the growth of our children in the future.
PETER 2:17 Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers, fear God honor the emperor.
Truth - Follow the path of mino pimâtisiwin.
When you find your true path and what is right for you, you are living mino pimâtisiwin. We choose whether to follow our path with each decision, every day.
ROBIN The Robin is a sacred bird; through his call he prays. In the morning he prays for guidance and in the evening, he prays for forgiveness.
JOHN 14:6 Jesus answered, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Wisdom - Use your unique gift to build a better world.
Everyone has been given a special gift from the Creator. We are wise to uncover our unique traits and talents and offer them to the world.
BEAVER The Beaver uses his wisdom, persistence and resilience to rebuild his home and dam.
JAMES 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Honesty - Be trustworthy.
Honesty means only making promises we can keep and keeping them. It means telling the truth and not cheating, lying or stealing.
GOOSE The Goose flies in V-formation and the leader has earned the trust of others. When the leader gets tired, he goes to the back of the formation and the next goose takes the lead. They follow the stars for direction and weather conditions.
PROVERBS 11:5 The godly are directed by honesty, the wicked fall beneath their load of sin.
Humility - respect and honor each other.
No one is above or below another; we are all equal to everyone. To the creator, we are all equal whether we are white, black, yellow or red.
WOLF The Wolf kills his prey, the pack will be fed first and the leader last.
PHILIPIANS 2:3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.
Courage - Have the courage to be you.
Courage helps you stand up for what is right and not agree when something is wrong. It helps you to overcome difficult times or situations. It takes courage to walk the Seven Teachings of life.
BEAR The Bear has the strength and courage to go anywhere to pursue to its needs and family. Children need to be encouraged to go forward and to look into the future embracing life through mino pimatisiwin.
JOSHUA 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you whenever you go.
