Job Summary:

The Journeyman Electrician requires the skills, knowledge and ability of an Inter-provincially certified (Red Seal) journeyperson in the trade of electrician. Application of these skills, knowledge and ability will be used in the repair and maintenance of existing Opaskwayak Education Services Inc. buildings and in the construction of Opaskwayak Education Services facilities.

Required Qualifications:

• Red Seal” Inter-Provincial Electrician Certificate.
• Journeyperson Electrician License.
• Two years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Valid Manitoba driver’s license.

Duties:

• Performs electrical installations in accordance with recognized electrical codes.
• Performs general maintenance of electrical equipment and/or systems.
• Tests, repairs and services electrical equipment and/or systems.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings and code specifications for layout and installation of electrical equipment.
• Installs repairs and replaces electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
• Tests electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current voltage and resistance.
• Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps maintenance records.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• May required to work / sign off hours under the apprenticeship program, when required.
• Preform electrical installation, with the OES satellite land base locations.
• Outdoors and indoors, may be required to work in confined spaces
• Will be required for emergency call-backs.
• Overtime maybe required.
