Job Summary:

The Payroll Technician performs payroll functions for all branches ensuring attention to detail and accuracy as well as compliance with required processes and standards.

Duties Include:

  • Process payroll and verify statement of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, company pension, group insurance, store deductions, advances and other miscellaneous deductions.
  • Ensure statements and documentations received are recorded accurately and properly.
  • Handle all requests from internal departments and outside agencies.
  • File payroll input data, timesheets and other payroll documents. 
  • Adjust payroll errors by processing manual cheques or by updating new payroll data for the next pay-period.
  • Prepare ROE’s (Record of Employment) for terminated employees.
  • Ensure all timesheets are handed in on time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Business Administration Diploma or equivalent education and training
  • Must have at least two (2) years related work experience in Payroll
  • Must have proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office),
  • Must have experience with Payroll Accounting Software
  • Good interpersonal skills and teambuilding skills
  • Time management skills and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have knowledge of Manitoba’s Employment Standards, Employment Insurance, and other related Employment Legislations.
  • Ability to speak the Cree language is an asset
