Job Summary:
Required Qualifications: |
- 2-3 years of post-secondary education in Social Science, Business or education in a related field;
- Must possess a Counselling Certificate from a recognized Education Institution;
- Must possess a Grade 12 Diploma from a recognized Education Institution;
- Cree language is an asset;
- Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license
Duties:
- Help students succeed, break down barriers that hinder success, decrease the dropout rate;
- Ensure good communication between parents, students and school;
- Ensure good communication between school and other agencies affecting the students (Social Services, Child and Family Services, etc.);
- Do home visits as requested by the administration;
- Arrange for tutoring sessions with resources as per parent/guardian requests;
- Ensure up-to-date statistics on daily attendance;
- Driving students home or contacting parents to pick up sick children;
- Delivering letters to homes of suspended students and providing brief explanations;
- Help teaching staff who are having difficulty dealing with disciple problems;
- Organizing a Parent Advisory Committee
