Job Summary:

The Student Success Officer will participate in and maintain the development of student success plans for students attending Joe A. Ross. 

Required Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of post-secondary education in Social Science, Business or education in a related field;
  • Must possess a Counselling Certificate from a recognized Education Institution;
  • Must possess a Grade 12 Diploma from a recognized Education Institution;
  • Cree language is an asset;
  • Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license

Duties:

  • Help students succeed, break down barriers that hinder success, decrease the dropout rate;
  • Ensure good communication between parents, students and school;
  • Ensure good communication between school and other agencies affecting the students (Social Services, Child and Family Services, etc.);
  • Do home visits as requested by the administration;
  • Arrange for tutoring sessions with resources as per parent/guardian requests;
  • Ensure up-to-date statistics on daily attendance;
  • Driving students home or contacting parents to pick up sick children;
  • Delivering letters to homes of suspended students and providing brief explanations;
  • Help teaching staff who are having difficulty dealing with disciple problems;
  • Organizing a Parent Advisory Committee
