Egg Lake Community Healing Centre

Egg Lake is located 65 kilometres north of Opaskwayak 21E along Highway 10. The Master Plan re-imagines the old prison facility here transformed into a new community healing centre, symbolic, as it demonstrates the possibilities of rehabilitation. The location is remote and provides the opportunity for immersion in nature and connection to the land, an ideal healing environment.

The plan shows the existing building retrofit as new healing centre building, outdoor recreation areas, and places for family members to say, bringing all generations together to participate in the healing process.

The buildings on the grounds have been intentionally configured in a manner that ranges from communal spaces to smaller, more intimate structures that offer independence and solitude. The idea is that these spaces can serve individuals throughout their wellness journey, at whatever stage they may be in.

Note that the area at Egg Lake with existing buildings has not yet been converted to reserve; however, this is expected to occur within the timeframe of this Master Plan.
