Clearwater Lake Sunset Beach Resort

Although not located on Opaskwayak land, this piece of land off of Sunset Beach Road on the shores of Atikameg (Clearwater) Lake within Clearwater Lake Provincial Park provides a very strong cultural tourism opportunity for Opaskwayak and can be developed in collaboration with the Province of Manitoba as they engage in these types of projects as part of the truth and reconciliation work.

People from Europe and other parts of the world are looking for Indigenous cultural tourism and ecotourism destinations. The Master Plan proposes developing this area as a resort that would include an interpretive centre, cultural training centre, spa and retreat area, gathering spaces, and cabins, yurts, domes or tipis to rent along the waterfront. The plan includes hubs for more group events, treatments and forest bathing opportunities in the wooded areas, a gathering space along the water and a mini golf course and concession stand closer to the existing Sunset Beach area in the Provincial Park to take advantage of traffic.

The location is ideally suited for such a development, with close proximity to both the airport and Opaskwayak 21E / The Pas, capturing the full market of travellers to this area.
